9 An In Situ report paper in 2016 To develop a short report to submit the GEO-XIII Plenary A more comprehensive report to be developed in 2017 Proposed contents: 1.Introduction (Current In Situ definition) 2.Activities in 1-2 continents 3.Activities in 2-3 SBAs 4.Issues identified for the needs of global coordination sustainability of existing measurements investigating new in situ measurements Emerging techniques and new approaches Facilitating research to sustained long-term operations coordinating the integration of space-based and in situ observations 5.Recommandations and Conclusion including next step

12 GD04 GEONETCast New stations deployed throughout the system (around 20 per month) Shared user management between EUMETCast & CMACast for users of exchanged data GEONETCast broadcast bandwidth increased in Europe (DVB-S2 service) to accommodate new satellites & products 2713 users 301 users 3054 users 150 users

13 GD04 GEONETCast : Challenges for the future Increase the link between GEONETCast and the GCI; Engage with GEO initiatives, flagship and community activities to assess at early stage needs for data access and dissemination (Started conversation GEO-GLAM, AfriGEOSS, AmeriGEOSS); Engages with global communities, e.g. Disaster Community through support to Charter; Increased data volumes arising from new satellite programmes and increased user demands for EO data Enhance coverage to regions without access to GEONETCast (work with US AID/UCAR RAPIDCast Pilot Program, over the Pacific Ocean).

14 GD11. Advancing Communication Networks Task Objectives Advance existing GEOSS communication infrastructure Assess GEOSS Cloud Service Requirements Support AfriGEOSS to improve data dissemination to and from Africa Initial Findings and Results “Start with the known”  Focus on improvements of existing infrastructure –Better utilize R&E networks to improve global connectivity and performance. –Explore potential use of Multicast across different infrastructure providers for WIS –Investigate SSO solution for academics from the GEOSS community accessing WIS data centre –Follow WMO ET-CTS Cloud Pilot Project –Establish regional relationships and promote collaborations between AfriGEOSS, African Research and Education Network and local EUMETSAT and WMO contacts. Next Steps Engage with other Foundational Tasks and GEO projects to identify synergies Identify further use cases helping to improve the communications infrastructure Document findings and gather feedback from key GEOSS stakeholders Elaborate use cases and define road map for 2017 - 2019
