Eating Disorder: A mental disorder that involves abnormal behaviors related to food. They involve Emotions, Thoughts & Attitudes Often influenced or affected by the Media Deal with Body Image

Anorexia Nervosa A person does not eat enough food to have a healthy body weight Symptoms: Extreme Weight Loss, eat very little, obsessively count calories, Amenorrhea, Body Hair Growth, Anemia People often deny the problem, have a distorted body image Can be Fatal as a result of lack of nutrients needed for the body to continue to function

Bulima Defined as a cycle of uncontrolled Binging & Purging of food. Symptoms: unable to control eating binges, eating secretively, eating too much too quickly, cycles of weight gain/loss, bathroom visits right after eating, hoarding food, vomiting, tooth enamel decay, throat bleeding, use of laxatives, Key~ Often people maintain an average weight making it harder to identify as a problem

Binge Eating Disorder People who regularly have an uncontrollable need to eat large amounts of food; often cannot stop eating even when feeling full. Symptoms: Excessive weight gain, unhealthy dieting, Causes: Used to Avoid dealing with difficult situations or emotions(Anger, Stress, Depression) Commonly Yo Yo diet (fad diets & Binging)
