Hello My name is Mary Fenby I live in Pompano Beach Florida I want to say thank you for this opportunity I have a B.A. in Early Education and now proudly Working on my Master in Education all through Ashford University I homeschooled for 17 years I have worked with children in the kids klub at LA Fitness for 4 year Now proudly working as a Pre K 3 teacher at Pompano Beach Academy

The classroom is a community where: Manners always matter Everyone's thoughts and feelings are respected Diversity is welcomed and respected Learning should fun Creativity and Choices motivate student Everyone is unique and learns differently “I cant do it” is not an option My Philosophy on Teaching and Learning As a teacher I expect great things from all my students I do my best to stimulate their interest and to ask questions while providing them the tools to discover the answers.

classroom management Classroom Management is critical! Rules and expectations must be implemented on the first contact with the students. Teaching and learning can not happen in a poorly managed classroom. Poor classroom management results in students becoming disrespectful and disorderly. And in classroom of chaos everyone suffers! www.austincc.edu/teacher/files/documents/Anayansi

classroom management teachers role is to create a curriculum that makes learning a fun adventure while teaching students to become upstanding members of their community. The website ministry-to- children starts with the statement “Trying to engage a room of preschoolers is like herding cats. Every little one has his own idea of what fun looks like and it is usually different from yours!” (Funderburke, Ministry-To- Children)

I like the creative curriculum but I think technology should be utilized. As Newman explains in section 5.3 of Teaching and learning in the 21st century: Connecting the dots ”Technology personalizes learning so students not only feel greater control, but are also deeply engaged, making the learning relevant based on their specific needs.” (Newman,2013 sec 5.3) I do believe if we are going to prepare them for their future no matter what curriculum is used technology has to be taught and used to prepare them. It is our job and duty to not only teach them how to utilize the technology but how to do it constructively and safely. school models

Important Elements of Effective Lesson Design Setting clear objectives that are aligned with the Florida Common Core State Standards Learning Activities Assignments And Assessments lesson planning and design Little learning happens when students are not motivated! Students are motivated by the opportunity to express ideas and hear from peers. peer assessment can give students more immediate and individualized attention. Assessment provide: more effective instruction, and to evaluate achievement or learning.

Evaluations helps to determine what a student needs are. In early education it can help to detect and deal with learning disabilities, and show if the students are making progress. Standardized testing can be helpful in identifying intellectual gifts and talents. I understand it is controversial as I don’t agree with jumping grades because of a test.

Professional learning communities are … a group of educators that meets regularly, they shares expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students. “The three words explain the concept: Professionals coming together in a group -a community --to learn.” Shirley Hord, an expert on school leadership, came up with perhaps the most efficient description of the strategy: http://edglossary.org/professional-learning-community/

Again thank you for the opportunity for this video interview and I look forward to hearing from you.
