Home plate first base second base third base
4
The pitcher throws the ball to the batter. The batter swings…
5
If the batter is able to hit the ball, he attempts to run to first base, then second base, then third base, then home plate. Once he arrives at home plate, he scores 1 point for his team.
6
A batter arriving safely at home plate.
7
However, if the batter “strikes out” (by missing the ball 3 times), or if the batter hits the ball, but someone catches the ball in the air, or if the batter hits the ball, but he is tagged before he gets to the base… he is “out”, and it’s another batter’s turn from the same team. Once the team gets 3 “outs”, the other team gets a turn to bat.
8
If the batter hits the ball, and it goes into the crowd, it’s called a “home run”. He gets to run around all the bases to home plate, scoring an automatic point for his team.
9
Once each team has gotten 3 “outs”, it’s called an “inning”. After 9 innings, the team with the most points wins! a scoreboard
