3 © GAA 3 Umpire Training Course Score  An attacking player enters opponents’ small rectangle before the ball enters it during play.  This attacking player scores either by striking the ball in flight or by taking possession and scoring  Decision: A score has not been made Rule 4.9 (F), 4.10 (H)

4 © GAA 4 Umpire Training Course Score  Protocol to be followed when the umpire(s) decide that a score is made:  1. Look across at umpire partner to agree decision;  2. Relevant umpire signals the decision.

5 © GAA 5 Umpire Training Course Score  Protocol to be followed when the umpire(s) decide that a score is not made:  1. Look across at umpire partner to agree decision;  2. DO NOT make any signal;  3. Umpires meet at (move to) green flag post;  4. Umpire at green flag post signals to attract the attention of the Referee;  5. Consultation must take place and Umpires wait until the Referee comes to them to consult;  6. Following consultation, Referee makes appropriate decision and;  (i) Umpires resume match position and signal relevant decision;  (ii) Referee shall indicate the place from which the free kick/puck shall be taken (if a free has resulted).

Umpire at green flag post signals to attract the attention of the Referee;  3. Consultation must take place and Umpires wait until the Referee comes to them to consult;  4. Following consultation, Referee makes appropriate decision and;  (i) Umpires resume match position and signal relevant decision;  (ii) Referee shall indicate the place from which the free kick/puck shall be taken (if a free has resulted).

7 © GAA 7 Umpire Training Course Endline  Protocol to be followed when the ball has crossed the endline:  1. Look across at umpire partner to agree decision;  2. Umpire on side at which the ball crossed the endline signals relevant decision;  3. If 45/65 results umpire moves out along endline to the point where the ball crossed and signals infield to indicate the point at which the free kick/puck should be taken.

8 © GAA 8 Umpire Training Course Duties of Umpires  Signalling - The umpires shall signal their decisions  Foul Play The umpires shall bring to the notice of the referee, during a break in play, any instances of foul play in particular, rough or dangerous play, striking, hitting or kicking, or unauthorised incursions which have not been noticed by the Referee.

At a break in play umpire signals to attract the attention of the Referee;  2. When the attention of the referee has been gained umpires meet at (move to) green flag post;  3. Consultation must take place and Umpires wait until the Referee comes to them to consult;  4. Following consultation, Referee makes appropriate decision and;  (i) Umpires resume match position;  (ii) Referee takes any merited action.
