Top 5 Resume Tips Your resume is about your future; not your past. It is not a confessional. In other words, you don't have to "tell all." Stick to what's relevant and marketable. Chronological Resume Template The chronological resume (as described in Choose a Resume Format) is the format recruiters and employers like most. It is especially good for job seekers who wish to stay in the same line of work and at the same level of employment. It's also good for someone who wants to move up the ladder in the line of work they're currently in.Choose a Resume Format Believe it or not, this resume format can handle some tough resume problems such as spans of unemployment, short-term jobs, and age issues. It takes a little thought to come up with those solutions, but it's well worth your time to do so, just because this format is so well received by hiring managers. Chronological Resume Template The following resume template is an image that you can view only. It's meant to show how the chronological resume is structured.

Chronological resume (marketing) Resume Review This is a strong resume with no real problems in the work history. So, for this resume review, I'll be pointing out how Johan (not his real name) highlighted his strengths to get the most bang for his buck on paper. No job objective statement. Instead of a job objective statement, Johan wrote his professional title near the top of his resume. This tells his reader that he is a Marketing / Business Development professional, not a wannabe. A great way to start his resume! Promotions. By listing his two job titles right under his current employer's name, Johan highlights that he performs well on the job and has been promoted for his good work. Two quick promotions. At his former employer, Johan was promoted within the first seven months. He spotlights this achievement by listing the months after each job title. Education section. Because his post graduate diploma is in his career field, Johan placed his Education section right under his Profile section, near the top of the page.
