School Aims To participate widely in sporting competitions: This increases the school’s opportunities for success It allows us to increase the numbers of children competing It provides a breadth of opportunity for our children

School Aims To increase the numbers of children competing in sporting events This means that as many children as possible have experience of competitive sport It improves children’s individual self-esteem and sense of pride In the long term, it contributes to children’s health and wellbeing It shows that the school values all children Children may find a love for an individual sport that they had not previously tried

School Aims To improve the quality of P.E. in the school Staff training through WBSSN and observation of coaches continues to improve the quality of P.E. in school We are fortunate to employ a specialist teacher, who provides high quality P.E. teaching, particularly in terms of sport Our size allows us to hold colours tournaments which increases our children’s sporting opportunities in school

Statistics 53 out of 64 Year 4 children have represented the school: 83% 23 out of 64 Year 5 children have represented the school: 36% 59 out of 63 Year 6 children have represented the school: 94%

Successes Other sports: WBSSN 10 pin bowling winners WBSSN table tennis winners WBSSN orienteering winners (participating in Berkshire games) WBSSN Y4 mini tennis: 3 rd The school has been awarded the Silver Standard for P.E. and sports provision

Areas for Development Ensure fairness in selection for competitions, particularly where these involve a ‘run off’ Ensure the school is as prepared as possible for individual competitions through: Ensuring there are opportunities in P.E. lessons to practise skills Enabling parents with specific skills to provide coaching in school, where they are able to do so.
