Life Cycle of Butterfly

Cycle does not have a start or ending. But let us start with the butterfly egg……

Butterfly eggs are fixed to a leaf with a gum. Eggs are usually laid on plants. Each species of butterfly has its own host plant range. And some species of butterfly are restricted to just one species of plant, others use a range of plant species.

The egg stage lasts for a few weeks in many butterflies. They hatch after about three weeks.

Larva (Caterpillar) We call it caterpillar. Caterpillar eats plant leaves. They spend all the time for eating.

Pupa (Chrysalis) When caterpillar is fully grown it stops eating. It creates its own pupation site underside of a leaf. The pupa cant move. But some kinds can make sounds to scare predators.
