SEPARATING MIXTURES By: Adevista Inasakti P 4001413033
2
Learning objectives Students can explain the meaning of mixtures Students can explain the principles of filtration and chromatography. Students can do separation of the mixtures by paper chromatography
3
Filtration
4
Filtering is the separation method used to separate a mixture of liquids and solids that do not dissolve based on differences in particle size were mixed substances.
5
What is chromatography?
6
Do experiment Separating Colors
7
Crhomatography Based on the speed difference between the particles
8
Separate colors
9
Chromatography works because all the chemicals in the mixture you are trying to separate are attracted to the paper by different amounts. Substances that are strongly attracted to the paper are harder for the solvent to move along than substances that are weakly attracted.
