2 Geschke/English IV Grammar Unit-- Pronouns Pronouns A word used in place of a noun or of more than one noun. –Example Richie sat quietly at the desk. He used it as a pillow. He is used in place of Richie. It is used in place of desk.

3 Geschke/English IV Grammar Unit-- Pronouns Antecedent The noun being replaced by the pronoun. –Richie sat quietly at the desk. He used it as a pillow. Richie is the antecedent of he. Desk is the antecedent of it.
