Slump Molds Drape mold o A form on which a piece of plastic material can be shaped o Types: Hump, slump and press

Slump Molds Slump Mold o A concave surface that slabs or a slab can be molded into o Concave = curved inward

Slump Molds Step 1 ◦Find two identical bowls (or you can use the same bowl twice)

Slump Molds Step 2 ◦Line the inside of each bowl with wet paper towel ◦Be sure to cover the entire surface!

Slump Molds Step 3 ◦Roll out a slab of clay about ¼” thick ◦Press the entire slab into the inside of the bowl. Cut out the pieces that overlap. Blend cut sections where they meet. OR…

Slump Molds Step 3 ◦Cut the slab into strips. Lay the strips into the bowl. Blend where the strips overlap.

Slump Molds Step 4 ◦Be sure that the edge is clean and even ◦No clay overhanging the edge

Slump Molds Step 5 ◦Wait Step 6 ◦When the bowls are leather hard, take them out of the bowls ◦If they are floppy they are not ready!

Slump Molds Step 7 ◦Score and slip the edges of the bowls together ◦You may want to add a coil at the seam for extra support.
