Thomas Clarkson Academy WRITING CONTEST

Why? Writing is an important way to communicate and share ideas. We want to promote lifelong literacy skills! We are putting on this contest to encourage you to express yourselves in a creative way. Many of you are very creative and likely have lots of interesting stories, ideas and emotions that you want to share.

What IS the contest? Poetry Poems can appear in any shape or size. They can rhyme, be serious or extremely funny. A poem comes straight from the heart and represents something meaningful to the writer. Prose Your short story can be about any subject. Maybe you’ve written something before that you want to submit. Short stories have a maximum of 2000 words.

PRIZES There will be a winner for poetry and a winner for prose in each of the age categories. There will also be runner-up prizes for each category. That’s 12 available prizes! 11-13 years 14-16 years Sixth Form

Important Info All submissions are to be given to Miss Doneathy (M003). Everything should be typed and printed, and spell-checked! You must fill out the submission form. Your English Teacher or Form Tutor will have these. All writing will be judged by a panel of judges. They will not have your names, so judging will be as fair as possible. Due: Thursday, 25 th October!
