Skills: What should I be able to do? Recognize and identify the literary devices and literary elements within a text. Perform literary analysis, describing how an author’s techniques influence a reader’s perception of a text. Create an original piece of writing that shows intentional and effective use of literary devices and literary elements.

Assessment: How will I demonstrate what I have learned? Write a polished literary analysis essay about one of the short stories that we read in class. Compose a piece of creative writing where you incorporate what you learned about literary elements and literary devices in your own short story or personal narrative.
