Sound Energy requires a medium (matter) to travel. Sound is produced (made) when objects vibrate. Vibrating objects push particles of matter next to them and cause those particles to compress.

Facts About Sound: Sound travels much slower than light. Sound travels faster through solids than liquids and faster through liquids than gases. Sound waves also travel faster through warmer matter than colder matter.
