3 Early Peoples By 800BCE the Latins migrated to Italy Their village grew into Rome (city on seven hills) Etruscans shared the peninsula Romans learned from Etruscans—alphabet, arch, engineering techniques, gods and goddesses

4 Roman Republic Romans drove out Etruscan ruler in 509BCE Formed a republic— “that which belongs to the people.” Explain the Laws of the Twelve Tables

5 Minorities Roman women played a larger role in society than Greek women—dined out, attended theatre, and public baths Boys and girls were educated from all classes
