My Philosophy Every student is capable of excellence Support is essential to learn HOW to do something Learning is a life-long process and we improve everyday we make a choice to do so Being able to understand, analyze, evaluate, and make good decisions is essential for the demands of the future

Learning Goals Each course of study we will have a learning goal or an expected outcome for the end of that unit Students will know what the learning goal is and how what we do is supporting that goal

Learning Goals 7 th grade Understand and use research skills for history Understand, analyze and evaluate themes of geography Understand and analyze macroeconomics and microeconomics Understand and apply responsibilities of citizenship Understand and analyze the causes and effects of the Civil War and Reconstruction Synthesis and connect current events to the past Understand and analyze the Age of Revolution and Industrialization Understand and analyze the emergence of the Modern United States Understand and analyze the causes and effects of World War I Understand and analyze the Great Depression and causes of World War II

Grading Social Studies: Formative assessments 15% Summative assessments 75% Executive functions 10% The STEAM ACADEMY is using standards based grading with a 4 point scale. A final will be given at the end of each semester. It is 10% of semester grade.

Technology The Willis Gifted Academy is committed to creating 21 st century learners. We will use a variety of technology in class and outside of class.

Integration of Technology With the integration of technology, advanced critical thinking skills as well as internet etiquette are being taught. Students are also learning how to evaluate and synthesize information.

4 th period – Academic Perseverance This class will be used as a problem based learning time to enrich our program at the STEAM Academy. So far we have created: 3D Name Art A board game design
