Cafeteria Expectations Calmly enter the cafeteria and walk to the designated line or table. All food and drinks should be consumed in the cafeteria. All students are expected to keep their table and surrounding area neat and free of debris at all times. Students are expected to speak at a reasonable volume. Remain seated until you are dismissed. Respect property and personal space of others. Upon lunch dismissal, walk appropriately from the cafeteria. Students should refrain from using all electronic devices in the cafeteria. (The cafeteria is a Device-free zone).

Bus Expectations Report directly to the bus area. The bus area is only for bus riders. Once your bus is present, board and take your designated /assigned seat immediately. If your bus is not present, wait patiently. Upon dismissal, locate your route number and be seated in that pick up area.

Hallway Expectations Note: The purpose of “passing” period is to pass from one class to the next. Go to Class. Talk quietly. Keep your hands to yourself. Keep moving. Even if you’re talking to others. Electronic devices should not be heard or seen during passing periods.

Restroom Expectations 1) Respect school property. 2) Use the bathroom in a timely manner. 3) Students are expected to use restroom during passing periods when possible.

Substitute Expectations Students will follow all classroom/school rules and procedures established by the classroom teacher/school when a substitute teacher is assigned to the classroom. Consequence will be assigned to students who misbehave for substitutes. All teachers will prepare a sub folder with pertinent information for their classes and submit the folder to Amber Pierce 24 to 48hrs. prior to the absence.

The Substitute Folder should contain, but not limited to the following: Class Schedule Classroom Rules and Procedures Seating Chart ( include trustworthy students) Note Medical Concerns General lesson plans Map of school School emergency procedures (lockdown, fire, tornado, etc.) Staff Phone Directory (Contact numbers of Assistant Principals, nurse, Department I.C., counselors, etc.) Substitute Folder

Electronic Device Policy Electronic devices should remain turned off during the school day; unless permission is granted by the teacher to use for instructional use. All students are expected to follow all GISD guidelines regarding B.Y.O.D. Consequences for students violating Electronic Device Policy may include: 1 st. Offense: the item will be collected in his/her principal’s office and available for student pick up after school at 3:50p.m. 2 nd.Offense; the item will be collected in his/her principal’s office and available for parent/guardian pick up after school at 3:50p.m. 3 rd.Offense; the item will be collected in his/her principal’s office and available for parent/guardian pick up after school at 3:50p.m. with a fine of $15.00

There will be areas of the school where students cannot use their devices. Device-Free Zone signs in will be posted in areas such as: – Restrooms – Locker Rooms – Cafeteria – Students will be expected to respect these zones. Device Free Zones!!

Dress Code The District's dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, and minimize safety hazards. Dress code will be enforced during classes and in the halls. Consistency is the Key!!!! See Handout and Student Procedure Manual.

Expectations for Reporting to Class on Time Students will be given a grace period to become familiar with their classroom locations within the first two weeks of school. Students who are not (physically) in class when the bell rings will be considered tardy and will receive appropriate consequences. The teacher is responsible for keeping record of tardiness and referring students throughout the year, (per. 9wks.) in TEAMS.

Tardy Procedures Consequences associated with students who are tardy for class may include the following: 1 st timeWarning 2 nd timeInfraction is Documented / Parent Contacted 3 rd timeReferral written by Teacher/ (1) Day of Campus Detention Assigned 4 th. time A week days of Lunch Detentions 5 th. timeI.S.S. Assigned Students are expected to arrive on time to each assigned class. A student who is purposely late or extends the tardy is considered to be non-compliant. If a student arrives to his/her class fewer than 15 minutes late, then the student is considered tardy. The student must sign the tardy sheet in the teacher’s classroom and receive the appropriate consequence.

Advisory Expectations Visibility and student ownership are crucial during Advisory period. We must all be accountable for our students. No matter what tutoring plan is in place. Each teacher should know where each student is at all times. Please communicate amongst your fellow staff members in the event that circumstances change student locations. *Remember staff that Advisory classes will follow the “Stay- put “ rule for the first two weeks of school Expectations are as follows: - students should report to their advisory classroom and remain there for the duration of the advisory period; unless given permission as indicated by a hall pass. - students should refrain from using all electronic devices during advisory unless used for instructional purposes. -teachers should actively monitor students during the duration of the advisory period to ensure that they utilize this period wisely. *This makes a considerable difference.

Attendance Procedures This makes it necessary for the greatest accuracy possible in the reporting and recording of school attendance by teachers and other designated people. *Attendance will be taken and entered into TEAMS at the beginning of the second period class. It is very important you that students’ attend school (90%) of the time. This is one of the most important jobs teachers have. You will find outlined procedures in the Staff Handout.
