1. Archive Task Team topics review and the way forward WGISS – 21 May 8 – 12, 2006 Budapest, Hungary

2. Topics review ATT have carried on the following purpose/Rationale since 2002.  Purpose/Rationale: The ATT is responsible for promoting, encouraging exchange and communication of Archive and records management best practices between the members of WGISS. Appropriate guidelines and recommendations for long-term archive data management, preservation and exchange among Agencies will be developed and distributed.

3. Topics review Under the purpose/Rationale ATT focused topics below.  As a result of a WGISS membership survey, the ATT initial focus will be on: –Long-Term Archive Strategies or Policies –Archive Media, Data Formats –Storage/Backup Strategies –Digital Data Preservation or Recovery. Additional topics may include: –Agency Presentations on Data Migrations –Environmental Storage Standards –Copyright Issues –Physical Security Standards –Old Equipment Inventory –Analog/Film Data Preservation or Recovery.

4. Topics review There are some environmental changes ・ Technological progress has been made - storage virtualization ・ Many standards and concepts has been appeared - ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) - SMI-S (Storage Management Initiative Specification) - ISO series ・ GEO activities has come out and it aims “system of systems”. It requires new technology, standards, concepts above.
