Traditional test technology delivers monolithic, hard coded systems best suited to large, homogenous markets (UNIX ®, WAP, DVB, SIF) Smaller, more diverse markets can also benefit from assured interoperability through test based conformance to open standards, but cost is a huge barrier New object technologies facilitate the diversity that existing test technology don’t address. They need effective conformance to assure interoperability and avoid wasteful integration costs Europe adds further dimensions of diversity through its many cultures, languages and educational environments
