The MCCC is a course classification and data collection system. It describes: Local courses offered. Teachers who taught courses. Students who completed courses The MCCC course classification system is built on a national model. Secondary School course Classification System: School Codes for the Exchange of Data (SCED). Developed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Modified to work for Minnesota schools. Federal legislation tells us what to collect: –HR 2272 America COMPETES Act of 2007 SEC. 6401. Required Elements of a Statewide P- 16 Longitudinal Data System. State Legislation that affects only grades 9-12 data collections: Minnesota Statute, Section 120B.35 - Student Academic Achievement and Growth. Minnesota Session Laws 2009, Chapter 96, Article 2, Section 60 - Implementing Rigorous Coursework Measures Related to Student Performance. 5 1)You need to create an MDE id for yourself. Go this this link and complete the process. https://w1.education.state.mn.us/MIDMSWEB/register/agreement this is where you will start. https://w1.education.state.mn.us/MIDMSWEB/register/agreement 2)Once you have an Id, the person to grant you access to the data from your district is the Identified Official with Authority. This link is the same to get the steps to create an IOwA for you district or grant pre-authorization. http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/SchSup/DataSubLogin/ExtUserAccess/index.htm http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/SchSup/DataSubLogin/ExtUserAccess/index.htm 3)Now that have pre-authorization you can go to the MCCC webpage and logon to Enter the Minnesota Common Course Catalogue (MCCC). At this time it will ask if you are requesting access and you will complete that section and submit the request. It will then send in a request to MDE. If steps one and two are complete you will be granted access.MCCC webpage 4)Authorization is the first step. While this process is going on, you can be working on getting you data organized in your student information system. Here is the link to the public MCCC webpage that has lots of documentation on MCCC. http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/SchSup/DataSubLogin/MCCC/index.html MDE Assessment Conference 2016 Review the basics: Authorization to MCCC
