6 Framing the Session A projector helps teachers to: Model a complex concept with a concrete visual or simulation. Model a learning process or activity. Engage and motivate students. Support whole-group interactive experience through educational games. Address the needs of different learning styles.

7 Framing the Session A projector also helps teachers to: Communicate complex instructions to class without speaking. Support varied, creative, and seamless use of teaching materials. Save class time. Save and capture class discussion for future use.

11 Mummy Facts When a body is mummified, it is preserved so that the bacteria and fungi cannot grow. Mummies still have some of their soft tissue. Mummies last for so long, that we still have mummies today from ancient Egypt!

17 Guiding Questions in planning your lesson 1. Does the use of a projector/tablet allow you to do things that could not be done as well without technology? 2. Does the lesson utilize the multimedia capability of the technology, such as audio, video, or animation? 3. Does the use of the technology address a variety of student learning styles? 4. Does the use of the technology help organize and streamline classroom instruction? 5. Does the use of the technology help the teacher to show how to do something rather then tell students how to do it? 6. Does the use of the technology make the lesson more engaging to students? 7. Does the lesson promote and enhance achievement of NYS standards?

18 Work Time Have participants answer each of the Guiding Questions as it relates to their topic. Discuss how you could use technology to enhance your minilesson. Each participant should be ready to share one idea.
