2 Career Field Summary  Environmental Science is an academic field that studies natural processes and the impact of humans on the environment  Includes jobs that involve making recommendations in order to improve the environment and its safety  Involves researching, analyzing, developing, and implementing plans  Certain jobs require analyzing and developing solutions to environmental problems

3 Types of Jobs  Product Development Managers  Climate Change Analysts  Environmental Technicians/Engineers  Environmental Scientists/Specialists  Environmental Science Teachers  Site Managers  Naturalists  Ecologists  Chemists

4 What you need to prepare  Most entry-level jobs require a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or another natural science  A Master’s degree is recommended for advancement in a job  Experience with computer modeling, data analysis, Microsoft Word and Excel is essential  Certain jobs may require you to know AutoCAD, CADKEY, and various other computer programs  Learning, writing, thinking, problem-solving, and speaking skills

5 Colleges/Programs that help train  Most colleges offer classes in natural sciences like biology, chemistry, and physics  Classes that cover Algebra, arithmetic, calculus, and geometry may be necessary  Environmental Science courses should also be taken  Training for computer programs like CAD software should also be completed for certain jobs

6 Future of the Field  The job outlook for the field is very positive and the projected growth of jobs ranges from 10% - 19%  Many companies are looking to hire people in this field  Median annual wages range from $40,000 - $130,000  Already thousands of jobs are being offered
