Shalom

19 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” 3 Elijah was afraid[a] and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,

When we worry, we believe more in our problems than we believe in the promises of God.

“Worry doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrows, it empties today of its strengths.” ~ Corrie Ten Boom

Anxious to being Peaceful

God is the still small voice that encourages us to trust him. God desires that we depend on Him, trust Him and relinquish all of our clutter to Him, so that He can simplify our lives by moving us from being anxious to living in His peace.

God’s desire for us is not for us to live with anxiety, stress or fear, but to live in Shalom- which in Hebrew means peace.

Yahweh Shalom, which means: the Lord is peace.

Shalom means wholeness, completeness, perfection, safety and wellness.

25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you..

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Do you truly have peace in your life?

“Simplifying our lives means eradicating pockets of fear where ever they lurk.” ~ Billy Hybels

“…..But you have not listened to me.”

God is not obligated to bless our plans, especially when they are not His plans.

“The Lord is Peace.”

First, this story reminds us that the peace we long for comes only from God.

The second lesson, we learn that real peace comes only from practicing the presence of God.

What am I allowing to steal my peace?

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this word you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.”

God, it’s time for me to reach out for your hand and finally deal with my anxiety that is causing me stress. I need courage. I need your strength to overcome. It’s time that I accept your divine assistance and start living my life unencumbered by destructive fear.

It’s time for me to face these stressors that silently plague me and keep me from enjoying the shalom peace that you freely offer. God, I desire to live in your perfect peace beginning today. I pray this prayer in the name of the Prince of Peace, your Son Jesus. Amen!
