The story begins with Jesus at the lords supper telling Simon Peter that the devil is trying to pull him into temptation and Peter denying the possibility of that saying he would follow Jesus that he would follow him to prison or even to the grave. Jesus then tells Peter that he will deny him thrice, or three times before the rooster crows. Before they moved on to head to the Mount of olives. At the Mount of Olives he told his Disciples to pray while he went to pray at the stone. After he returned he found them sleeping and he returned to praying. Once he had finished praying he returned to his disciples and found one of them by the name of Judas who walked up to him and kissed Jesus signaling to the priests servants and soldiers who arrest Jesus and take him away The Story

As those who arrested Jesus took him away, one Simon Peter followed them at a distance Once they got to their destination Peter had followed them he had found a group at a fire and they asked him if he was with Jesus where he responded no, next he met a maid who claimed that he was with Jesus, then a third party asked Peter if he is with Jesus of Galilee, and he claimed that he didn’t know the man As soon as he finished that statement the rooster crowed and he remembered Jesus words that he would deny him three times before the rooster crows. One of the big ideas that can be taken from this is the concept of predestination vs Free Will This is shown in that Peter didn’t want to deny Jesus but he had no choice due to it being destiny, and prophesized by Jesus Peter was given the free will to follow Christ but still denied him three times and could not stop this destiny Big Idea

A good connection would be Greek mythology in general due to the omnipresent theme of predestination in Greek mythology The more specific connection would be Oedipus Rex, by Sophocles. How there are many prophecies that occur regardless of what someone does to prevent it, if a divine entity says that it will happen then it will Connection
