Words Cut: To delete a selection from its original location and move it to the Clipboard Drag-and-drop editing: The action of using a mouse to drag a selection from its original location and drop it in a new location. Embed: to insert an object created with one program into a file created with a different program Link: To create a connection between two files, or the connection itself. Office Clipboard: A temporary storage area where a selection may be held until it is pasted into a new location Paste: To insert a selection from the Clipboard into a document.

8 Discussion Moving a selection makes it easy to rearrange content without having to completely retype the document. What is the difference between move and copy? What is the difference between Cut, delete, and backspace command?

9 Moving Text There are many ways to move text F2 function key (select first) Alt + shift and arrow keys (paragraph) Be sure to consider nonprinting characters when you select text to move Select space following a word or sentence to move along with text Select paragraph mark to maintain formatting Use undo to reverse a move that you make unintentionally

10 Using Drag-and-Drop and Cut and Paste Use mouse to drag content to desired position Convenient when you can see the entire screen Use cut and paste – Cut (removes from current location and places it on the Office Clipboard and insert) – Paste (copies from the Office Clipboard and places in document)

11 Cut and Paste Cut: ctrl + x Paste: ctrl + v Paste options: – Keep source formatting – Merge formatting to apply formatting used in destination location – Keep text only to remove formatting Paste Special Options
