Homework in science class has been flipped. I will video a lot of my lecture and notes. Students will watch the video from home and complete their notes by watching the video. Students will do more labs, hands-on, activities, and practice in class when they have the teacher with them to help them. We are also doing a lot more problem based learning this year. The students get frustrated because I don’t give them a lot of their answers, but provide them with the resources to find out the answers themselves. SCIENCE HOMEWORK and CLASSWORK Flipped Classroom AND Problem Based Learning (PBL) PROS Pause and stop video as needed to write at own pace Watch video several times during the unit. Review video before major assessment More time for inquiry / real science Parents know what we are teaching, they can watch the videos CONS No computer at home Computer does not work Students HAVE to do their homework.
