THERMAL TESTS SCI-ALL

INTRODUCTION GOAL OF THE EXPERIMENT: Check thermal behavior of allcomp and scientific samples and compare the results. System:

INTRODUCTION ISSUES: Random results with no meaning. Unexpected behave when increase flow. Water takes more heat than heaters dissipate! POSSIBLE CAUSES: Sensor mistakes. Flow is not well mixed in the sensor point, heterogeneous temperature.

MODIFICATIONS System modification: We add a backwater element to get a well mixed flow in the sample exit. MEASURE POINT

RESULTS New results shows a coherent behavior: Smooth development, with no weird peaks. Higher pump power, higher heat absorb the water. System efficiency around 70 %. o We got some new pt100, we repeat the measures with them to cross the results. o Finally we have 3 measures at the same point (exit of the backwater tank), and we work with the average.

CONCLUSIONS For this experiment, thermal behavior is similar Are these results enough?  Experiment with low temperatures (TC variable?).  Using co2 as cooling fluid.  Irradiated behavior? For similar experiments, we have to ensure flow is well mixed at the measurement point. Backwater Tooling.

NEW SAMPLE

Experiments design: Compare results of simulations and experiments to estimate properties: o Thermal test with heaters and pt100 Estimation conductivity o Thermal test in oven with strain gauges Estimation of CTE Useful estimates to future simulations PRIORITY ??
