Experience seems to indicate that the more involved members are, the more they talk to each other and the more they talk to each other the easier it is to communicate across the board.
16
Start small! Slice and dice the jobs into manageable portions Ask people to do things in twos and threes If members make suggestions (or even complaints) ask them to get involved in the solution If members take on a task let them sort out the fine details themselves
17
1. Do not reject any ideas at first. 2.Try to link ideas and develop them. 3.Encourage individuals to investigate ideas. 4.Only at a given point move to practicalities. 5.Record all ideas. One method that has worked is to establish an ethos of group planning.
18
Overcome personal differences Generate new ideas Maintain motivation Mentor the next generation of volunteers Increase individual learning Keep fun to the fore
19
Encourage new and existing members Review venues periodically Keep in touch with other U3As of about the same size Have regular new members meetings and talent spot (gently does it) Encourage participation at all levels. Members are our key resource Is there somewhere new available? Are prices going up or down? You may have solutions to their problems and vice versa 10/03/2016 19
