2. Original Americans: The original American peoples are usually classified “Indians” or “Redskins”. The reason of thesestrange names is as follow: 1-”Indians”: when Cristoforo Colombo discovered America in 1492, he believed to be arrived in India and therefore he classified the population “Indians”. 2-”Redskins”: The skin of original Americans was not red, but brown like many peoples of Asia.Many American tribes used to paint their faces red before the battle. For this reason the Europeans classified American people “Redskins”.

3. Original Americans Original American people come from Asia. Many centuries ago some Asian peoples arrived in America from Siberia across the Bering Strait: they moved from Alaska to east and south.

4. EAST AND SOUTH In the south part of north America (Mexico) they founded important and very advanced civilization like Maya and Aztechi. Many types of their food were imported in Europe from America: potatoes, tomatoes, corn, cacao, tobacco and also animals like turkey. In the north part of North America the tribes didn't reach the same level of civilization. Normally they were hunters and proud warriors.

5. AMERICAN CONTINENT As above mentioned, the American continent was discovered by Cristoforo Colombo in 1492, Colombo arrived in central America and the conquest of America started from that part and was performed by Spanish warriors.

6. The American Continent On at 21 st December 1620 a ship called “May Flower” landed the eastern coast of North America with a hundred people. They were English Puritans, called the “Pilgrim Fathers” and they arrived in America because they were persecuted at home. Many Pilgrims died of hunger and only few of them survived because they were helped by the Indians. After one year the Pilgrims invited the Indians friends for a three day festival. That was the first “Thanksgiving”.

7. The battle of Americans Indians Afterwords thousand and thousand Europeans emigrants arrived in North America and they occupied the territories of the Native Americans. The friendship between Indians and Europeans became hard and the Indians fought a lot of battles to defend their territories.

8. Tribes of American Indians Tribes like Cherokee, Sioux, Navajo, Apache, Blackfeet and Pueblo became famous for their eroism, and also their leaders became legendary; Geronimo, Crazy Horse. At the end the American Indians were defeated and practically destroied.Now the few American Indians survive on reseves, that is on special, poor and insalubrius villages and lands.

13. FAUNA The fauna of Nort America is: -the grizzly, -puma, - the bighorn sheep -jaguar, - bison -condor, -wolves -eagles. - coyotes. - polar bear - opossum.
