960 – 1370 – the Piast dynasty 1370 – 1386 – the Andegaven dynasty 1386 – 1572 – the Jagiellonian dynasty 1573 – 1795 – elective kings Between 1795 and 1918 the Polish state was under foreign rule. On the 11th November 1918 Poland regained independence and became a republic.
