What`s about identity of the military organization in that process? -Not building non-military capabilities - a risk of perception in society about the military as an anachronic institution and consumer of budgetary funds. -Strong involvement in non-military activities may significantly contribute to development of its image in public. -It can lead to excessive dependence on society on military potentials / dependence on the military. -A trend of intensified militarization of the domain of crises management. Post-modern military - controversies

Post-modern military - missions Post-modern military – 5 main organizational changes: 1. growing interlacement of the civilian and military spheres, 2. diminishing differences based on service or branch, rank etc., 3. change of the military's purpose from conducting wars towards crisis management, 4. intensified use of the armed forces in international missions, 5. internationalization of the armed forces. - shift from defence of the national territory towards peacekeeping operations and crisis management area, - shift towards armed forces entirely manned with volunteers, - sophisticated military technology, -abolition of the traditional military hierarchy and civil-military borders

Post-modern military in contemporary operations Operations of response to crises beyond national territory New model of civil-military relations Dimension of the problem in European post Communist transition states Participation of the military in activities of giving support to civilian institutions and citizens in situations of major natural, technical- technological and other accidents and disasters – military identity?

Post-modern military in non- military activities Two important reasons for very participation of the military in such activities: 1.Because of the need for rationality, 2.Such activities represent an important element in building connections with society and a manner of proving general social usefulness of the military.

Conclusion Strong involvement of the military in non-military activities, can significantly contribute to improvement of its image in public But, it could lead to excessive relying of the society on military potentials and creation of a specific dependence on the military Potential dangers from excessive militarization of the area of crises management But, this is a useful channel for strengthening connection between the military and society In post-modern society traditional mission of the military has to be redefined, if the military wishes to preserve its relevance. New post-modern model of civil-military relations has to be created.
