14 What is an Eating Disorder? An eating disorder is a disease that involves an unhealthy concern with ones body shape and weight,. It is a disease that causes a harmful change in the state of health of the body and mind.

16 Anorexia Nervosa Eating disorder that involves limiting the amount of food a person eats It results in starvation and an inability to stay at a healthy body weight.

19 Bulimia This is an illness in which a person binges on food and then tries to get rid of it by vomiting or using laxatives Called Binging and purging Binging means to eat huge amounts of food in a short amount of time

22 Over Eating Over eating is an eating disorder in which a person eats more than is physically needed This will lead to excess body weight

23 Over Exercising This is burning far more calories through exercise than what is taken in over a long period of time Many time over exercising happens at the same time as an eating disorder

24 Over Exercising This means whatever little calories are taken in they are spent through exercise This will leave the body depleted from the nutrients it needs to stay healthy The results are similar to those of anorexia

25 Getting Help Friends, family, teachers, and coaches all need to be aware of the signs of eating disorders. If you think someone has an eating disorder make sure to let a trusted adult know. Professional counseling is one of the best treatment for an eating disorder.
