Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 4 AHCAL Assembly solution: all needed AHCAL parts fit into here the container fits to standard transport systems as ships, railways, trucks and through tunnels…..

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 5 AHCAL barrel in ILD it does not matter for the AHCAL barrel where the central yoke and the coil stays, but it must be there, before the AHCAL barrel installation starts

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 6 AHCAL barrel integration sensitive layer scintillator tile array very frontend readout with SiPMs test beam setup in ILD absorber submodule

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 7 AHCAL half barrel absorber installation step 1 mounting of 16 AHCAL submodules with all sensitive layers and front end electronics to a full half barrel in front of the cryostat submodule connection by plates from the front and back side AHCAL half barrel is supported by two rails inside the cryostat vessel

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 8 AHCAL barrel integration tools lifting and turning tool for AHCAL barrel absorber submodules available 2 x 18 t capacity operation with 2 hooks (z angle adjustment) precise motor controlled turning design for adaptation for sub-modules with and without sensitive layers started mounting, support and insertion frame insertion frame design ready insertion frame support design depends on final yoke size and useable space push and pull tool available must be modified to the rail distance and rail shape/size 18 t

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 9 AHCAL barrel integration step 2 push the first AHCAL half barrel into the cryostat the second AHCAL half barrel can be pushed trough the cryostat first, if it is necessary push/pull system existing

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 10 AHCAL barrel integration step 4 install the AHCAL barrel cabling and cooling continue with the second AHCAL half barrel

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 11 AHCAL end cap installation step 1 AHCAL tower book shelf fixation no frame work needed requires suitable scaffolding

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 12 AHCAL end cap installation step 2-14 14 x AHCAL towers for half end cap

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 13 AHCAL end cap installation step 15-28 after the tower installation the mounting of AHCAL end cap cabling and cooling will start continue with the second AHCAL end cap cabling and cooling routing design not started, because there is no place for back end electronic and cooling systems known

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 14 AHCAL assembly in ILD installation scenario AHCAL submodules and towers should be already equipped with sensitive layers and pretested anywhere in the world to reduce installation, transportation and storing charges at the installation area all AHCAL parts and tools can be transported in standard containers the AHCAL assembly can be done at the surface or in the experimental hall after transportation to the experimental site, the AHCAL submodules and towers must be tested before the AHCAL barrel and endcap installation, to reduce possible delays due to failures by transportation the testing of the sensitive layers and frontend electronics for the AHCAL submodules and AHCAL towers needs a testing and storing place laboratory space and infrastructure should be available close to the experimental hall

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 15 AHCAL assembly in ILD installation schedule detailed schedule for the AHCAL installation at the Japanese site is existing since mid 2012 incl. manpower the critical path during the AHCAL barrel installation will be the crane usage at the detector installation area if the AHCAL detector will get 100% priority of crane usage, the installation of the hole AHCAL barrel will take 180 days the installation of the AHCAL end caps will take nearly the same time, if there will be the same priority as for the AHCAL barrel. an parallel installation of AHCAL barrel and AHCAL endcap could be possible, if there would be enough installation space and crane capacity to fulfill such a tight installation schedule, a professional testing and storing of equipped submodules and towers, supported by an equivalent infrastructure, is needed

Karsten Gadow | ILD Topical Integration Meeting | LAL-Orsay 08.010.2015 | Page 16 AHCAL assembly in ILD experimental site requirements experimental site must be reachable by standard trucks with 20“ containers and a payload of 20 t under convenient conditions (moderate slopes and curves) the AHCAL test hall must be passable with trucks like above the AHCAL test hall must be equipped with 2 x 20 t gantry cranes the two crane hooks must reach a distance of 2,5 m between each other and a height of 6 m over ground the operational area of the cranes for the AHCAL must be 10 m (crane bridge) x 20 m load area 4 x 8 m / AHCAL test area 6 x 8 m / AHCAL storage area 10 x 12 m the AHCAL test area must be air conditioned cooling water (16°C, 2 bar, 50 l/min) must be supplied to the AHCAL test area electrical power 4 x (3 phase x 400V / 50Hz, 32 A) must be supplied to the AHCAL test area workshop (5 m x 10 m with a height of 3,5 m) for sensitive layer repair directly at the AHCAL test area 4 offices with 20 m² directly at the AHCAL test area
