2. Chapter 21— “An Arkansaw Difficulty”
Duke and King practicing for their Shakespearean performances
Romeo and Juliet Richard III Hamlet
(Mixing up the words from the famous speeches/scenes)
Made flyers to advertise show at town in “Arkansaw”
Meet Boggs (a drunk) who wants to kill Colonel Sherburn for swindling him
They argue and Sherburn pulls out a gun and shoots Boggs dead in front of his daughter and others in town
People in town feel Sherburn should be lynched (hanged) for shooting Boggs

3. Chapter 22– “Why the Lynching Bee Failed”
People went to Sherburn’s house and he stood on roof of porch with a gun and called them all cowards and referred to a mob of people as the “pitifulest thing”
People all went home and didn’t lynch Sherburn
Huck went to a circus in town
King and Duke performed their play that night (only 12 people came) and most left early
Got an idea…advertise a new performance and at bottom of flyer wrote “Ladies and children not admitted” to stir up interest.

4. Chapter 23– “The Orneriness of Kings”
Show was packed that night and “king” comes out on stage on all fours, naked, and painted with colorful paint—people laughed
Spectators realized that was the whole show and got upset and ready to go after the “actors”
Someone stood up and said they should ‘talk up’ the show and advise others to see it so they weren’t the only foolish ones in town.
New people came to show 2nd night
On 3rd night of show, all who had seen show returned with stuffed pockets (of rotten eggs and vegetables)…king and duke snuck away with $465 in ticket sales and took off with Huck and Jim.
