10 FAMOUS POLES Lech Wałęsa -is a Polish politician. A charismatic leader, he co-founded Solidarity, the Soviet bloc's first independent trade union, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983, and served as President of Poland from 1990 to 1995 Karol Wojtyła – known as Pope John Paul II was born in Wadowice, Poland

11 POLISH CUISINE Traditional polish cuisine is very tasty, diverse and unique Dishes are mainly prepared with cabbage, beet, potatoes and meat Pierogi - very traditional small white dumplings filled with sauerkraut with mushrooms, cheese and potatoes or with fruit or meat

12 Kotlet schabowy - Polish pork schnitzel, mainly served with potatoes and vegetables or a stewed shredded white cabbage Żurek - sour rye soup, very traditional polish soup. The soup is made of soured rye flour and meat

13 SPORT IN POLAND The most popular sport in Poland is football Other popular sports include athletics, handball, volleyball, tennis, skiing, swimming and ski jumping
