What is the Life Science curriculum? Seventh grade science deals with living things and their interrelationships with their environment. Students will study cells, genetics, bacteria, plants, animals, and anatomy and physiology. A cross disciplinary approach is used to develop the students critical thinking skills such as: analysis, synthesis, extrapolation and interpretation.

Curriculum activities and assessments What type of activities will my child be doing in class? Your child will be participating in an array of activities including: many hands-on labs, class discussion, power point presentations, and participation in the Science Fair. How will my child’s knowledge be assessed? Students are evaluated through tests, quizzes, computer projects, Science research paper/project, homework assignments, notebook organization, lab practicals and trimester project or exams. Note: graded class work is returned to student Tests and quizzes will be sent home for review, but will be returned Signed by the parent and kept in test folder. This will enable tests to be used for parent and student conferences and help session review.

How will the teacher communicate with me? Parent conferences- October 3rd is set aside for initial conference. Additional conferences can be set up by simply calling or emailing to request one. (parents can assist with field trips, finding speakers, helping with hands on labs, donating items for edible labs or class celebrations. Help sessions for individuals and breakfast test reviews
