2. POLK COUNTY EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Fiscal Year 2014/2015 Adopted Budget totals $1.27 billion, a 0.3 percent increase from the FY 2013/2014 Adopted Budget. This Budget sustains the services funded in the FY 2013/FY2014 Adopted Budget and addresses the growth in demand for these services. Important considerations in the development of the FY 2014/2015 Adopted Budget: 1.County Employees – We can only achieve the Board of County Commissioners’ goals for this community through high- performing employees. 2.Services – Services are provided to meet Polk County residents’ expectations within the seven result areas they have identified. 3.Relationships – We can only be successful if we have strong, productive partnerships with those in the community. Florida Polytechnic in Lakeland is the State’s newest university. 2
