10. Elya Yelnats is Stanley’s no good, rotten, great-great grandfather. He is blamed for the bad luck that the Yelnats family faces. 17. The yellow spotted lizards are deemed to be highly poisonous lizards that live in the desert where Camp Green Lake is. They have exactly eleven spots on their back. 23. Rain is a symbol in this book. Ever since Sam was killed, it hadn’t rained again at Green Lake which is the reason that the lake dried up.
