Our History Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), generally referred to as Habitat for Humanity or simply Habitat, is an international, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization. Habitat for Humanity traces its origins to the time Millard Fuller spent at Koinonia Farm in 1965 which inspired him later to found Habitat for Humanity International in 1976 together with Linda Fuller. Today, Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing.

About Our Mission Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County, as a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization which mission is to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Our goal is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

About Our Mission(continued) The mission statement of Habitat for Humanity is "Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope". Homes are built using volunteer labor and Habitat makes no profit on the sales. In some locations outside the United States, Habitat for Humanity charges interest to protect against inflation. This policy has been in place since 1986. Habitat has helped more than 4 million people construct, rehabilitate or preserve more than 800,000 homes since its founding in 1976, making Habitat the largest not-for-profit builder in the world.
