Peace with God COLOSSIANS 1:21-23

21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.

Why do we need peace? VERSE 21

Why do we need peace?  We were alienated from God.

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) – Eph. 2:1-5

Why do we need peace?  We were alienated from God.  We were hostile towards God.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. - Galatians 5:19-21

How do we find peace? VERSE 22

How do we find peace?  Understand that peace is a GIFT from God.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. – John 3:16-17

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

How do we find peace?  Understand that peace is a GIFT from God.  Peace was PAID for by Christ on the cross.

What is the effect of this peace that has been given? VERSE 22

What is the effect of this peace that has been given?  We can STAND before God.

What is the effect of this peace that has been given?  We can STAND before God.  We have been made HOLY.

What is the effect of this peace that has been given?  We can STAND before God.  We have been made HOLY.  We have been made BLAMELESS.

For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. -Hebrews 10:14

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. – Hebrews 10:19-22

How is the peace kept? VERSE 23

How is the peace kept?  Continue in our FAITH.

How is the peace kept?  Continue in our FAITH.  REMAIN firm and steadfast.  In God’s Word  Connected with God’s community  Prayerfully in conversation with Christ

How is the peace kept?  Continue in our FAITH.  REMAIN firm and steadfast.  In God’s Word  Connected with God’s community  Prayerfully in conversation with Christ  Cling to the Hope of the GOSPEL.
