1 Sleep and Rest Sleep – restful state in which there is little or no conscious thought. Sleep is important because that is when your body has a chance to recover, repair, and reenergize itself. Teenagers need between 8-10 hours of sleep each night. Your heart rate slows down by about 10-15 beats per minute when you sleep.
