What is Remembrance Sunday? Many countries have a special day to remember the people who have died in wars. America has Veterans’ Day. France has Armistice Day. In Britain it is called Remembrance Sunday

Their motto of the British Legion is: "Remember the dead; don't forget the living" Poppy Day Remembrance Sunday is also known as Poppy Day. The poppies are sold by the Royal British Legion. They help people who have been soldiers in a war, especially elderly ones.

The Royal British Legion is a charity that sells poppies the week of Remembrance Sunday. The money is used to help people in the Armed Forces and their families. Thousands of people give their time to help the Royal British Legion sell the poppies.

The Cenotaph Ceremony takes place on Remembrance Sunday in London. Many people are invited, including the Queen, soldiers, sailors, airmen/women and people who have fought in wars. You can hear the Cenotaph Ceremony on the radio. You can also see it on the television.

The Household Cavalry also take part in the Cenotaph Ceremony.

Cenotaph Ceremonies take place in many villages, towns and cities.
