UL Transmit Power Control (TPC) Current AWD defines PC-A-MAP IE –This IE is TPC command for TX power correction –PC-A-MAP IE has 2 bit-field -0.5dB, 0dB, 0.5dB, 1.0dB –AMS should interpret this IE as correction value to current tone power

How to Assign PC-A-MAP? Explicit Way –FBCH Alloc IE can include a field which indicates the PC-A-MAP location to a MS –The field size is dependent on total number of channels per subframes  overhead increase Implicit Way –By coupling with assignment of UL reference signal, additional explicit assignment might not be necessary –One good reference is FBCH allocation  No overhead increase Suggestion is “Implicit Assignment of PC-A- MAP”

Implicit Assignment FFBCH is assigned to active AMS (practically mandatory) We can exploit FFBCH assignment index for PC-A-MAP assignment index –BS can estimate UL SINR based on FBCH –PC-A-MAP field is set based on estimated UL SINR PC-A-MAP assignment can be coupled with FFBCH assignment

Answers to Concerns on Implicit Way Period of PC-A-MAP –Same period with FFBCH period is not inappropriate? –The more frequent PC-A-MAP than FFBCH would be meaningless if there is no UL reference signal for UL SINR estimation Therefore, same period with FBCH is what PC-A-MAP can have at most if there is not any other UL reference signal –The less frequent PC-A-MAP than FFBCH would result in lack of information for power control on FFBCH transmission Overhead PC-A-MAP IE of the proposal –This proposal request all MSs who transmits FFBCH to be assigned PC-A- MAP –Considering 320 users per sector and FDD frame with 8 subframes, 40 users per subframe need to be assigned PC-A-MAP –This results in total 80 tones (< 1 LRU) in case of 2 tones for PC-A-MAP IE, 160 tones (~1.5 LRU) in case of 4 tones for a PC-A-MAP IE

Assignment Rule Example (FDD) ABS assigns FFBCH to AMS#1 in UL subframe#3 with 5ms –Then, PC-A-MAP is automatically assigned in DL #7 –Exact location in DL#7 is determined by the order of AMS#1’s FFBCH in UL subframe#3

Assignment Rule Example (H-FDD) In H-FDD systems, certain subframes can have limited transmission due to reception of SFH –Subframe #0, #1 and #7 are not used for UL transmission –Subframe #3, #4 and #5 are not used for DL transmission accordingly –Only Subframe #2 and #6 are used for both DL and UL transmission

Assignment Rule Example (TDD) In TDD Systems, –Total number of UL FFBCH per ‘frame’ should be same to total number of UL PC-A-MAP IE per ‘frame’ –In example, period of FFBCH 1 frame and 2 frame for MS#1 and MS#2 respectively

Range of PC-A-MAP IE Number of LRU for FBCH in SP3 : 4bits (0~15LRUs) –FBCH = H-FBCH + F-FBCH Number of LRU for H-FBCH in SP1 : 2bits –Pre-determined number according to Bandwidth Number of Channels for F-FBCH # of H-FBCH# of FBCH# of H-FBCH# of FBCH# of H-FBCH# of FBCH 5MHz 10MHz 20MH 6262124 4 4248 1862484816 24830106020 # of FBCH in LRU123456789101112131415 # of FBCH369121518212427303336394245 Number of channels for FFBCH # of H-FBCH5MHz 0b00 :6147101316192225283134374043 0b01 :122581114172023262932353841 0b10 :18-3036912151821242730333639 0b11 :24-5-214710131619222528313437 # of H-FBCH10MHz 0b00 :6147101316192225283134374043 0b01 :122581114172023262932353841 0b10 :24-5-214710131619222528313437 0b11 :36-7-4258111417202326293235 # of H-FBCH20MHz 0b00 :122581114172023262932353841 0b01 :24-5-214710131619222528313437 0b10 :48-13-10-7-425811141720232629 0b11 :60-17-14-11-8-5-2147101316192225 H-FBCHF-FBCH FBCH

Proposed Text : Remedy #1 Insert the following text, Table XX and Table YY in page 394, line 56 of IEEEP802.16m/D3 (under the Table 810- PC-A-MAP IE format) For FDD/H-FDD systems, when F-FBCH is assigned to AMS, the corresponding PC-A-MAP IE to the AMS automatically follows the assignment location defined in Table XX. In the table, P is allocation period of F-FBCH by Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE (refer to Table 818-Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE) in terms of subframe. And N is the available number of subframes in a frame and F-FBCH channel index is channel index field specified in Feedback Allocation A- MAP IE. Table XX- PC-A-MAP IE Location in FDD/H-FDD systems Frame indexSubframe indexChannel index/IE index F-FBCH Locationi mq PC-A-MAP IE Location i + floor[ (m+P/2)/N ](floor(m+P/2)) mod Nq

Proposed Text : Remedy #1 (Cont’d) For TDD systems, when FFBCH is assigned to AMS, the corresponding PC-A-MAP IE to the AMS automatically follows the assignment location defined in Table YY. In the table, s is defined as s = Q * m +q where N : total number of subframes in a frame (N=D+U) D : total available number of downlink subframes in a frame U : total available number of uplink subframes in a frame Q : total number of FFBCH in a uplink subframe given by Q = N fb *UL_FEEDBACK_SIZE – L HFB /3 where N fb is 3 in Mzone and 4 in Lzone with PUSC, and L HFB is the number of UL HARQ channels defined in S-SFH SP1 q : the channel index specified in Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE m : Available UL subframe index (0≤m≤U-1) T : total number of PC-A-MAP IE in downlink subframe, T = ceil(U*Q/D) Table YY- PC-A-MAP IE Location in TDD systems Frame indexSubframe indexChannel/IE index F-FBCH Locationi mq PC-A-MAP IE Location i + 1(floor(s/T)) mod Ns mod T

Proposed Text : Remedy #2 Change the line 26~27 in page 377 (table 801) as Power control channel resource size indicator2Total number of PC-A-MAP IE, N PC-A- MAP-IE,is 0b00 : 0 (No Use of PC-A-MAP IE for UL power correction) 0b01 : 14 if UFPC is 0, or 24 0b10 : 28 if UFPC is 0, or 56 0b11 : 43 if UFPC is 0, or 86

Proposed Text : Remedy #3 Change the line 21~61 in page 373 as 16.3.6.3.2.3 Power Control A-MAP Power Control A-MAP (PC-A-MAP) contains PC-A-MAP-IEs for closed-loop power control power correction of the uplink transmission. The ABS shall transmit PC-A-MAP-IE to every AMS which operates in closed-loop power control mode transmits FFBCH. The location of PC-A-MAP-IE is specified in Table XX and Table YY. Figure 513 shows the construction procedure of PC-A-MAP symbols from PC-A-MAP-IE. The i th PC-A-MAP-IE shall have the size of 2 bits according to power correction value. The i th and (i+1) th PC-A-MAP IEs shall be mapped to two QPSK symbols as depicted in Figure 513. Only the i th PC-A- MAP may also be mapped to two QPSK symbols for transmitting to the corresponding MS with poor channel quality. Power scaling by sqrt(Pi) (0  i  N PC-A-MAP-IE )shall be applied to the i th PC-A-MAP-IE where N PC-A-MAP-IE is the number of PC-A-MAP-IEs and sqrt(Pi) is the value determined by the management entity to satisfy the link performance. The QPSK symbols are repeated N rep,PC-A-MAP-IE times, where N rep,PC-A-MAP-IE equals two if A-A-MAP MCS selection field in SFH SP1 is 0b0, and four if A-A-MAP MCS selection field is 0b1. (x2) (x N rep,PC-A-MAP-IE )
