2. What is a victory garden? Almost 20 million American families grew their own fruits and vegetables. Government asked people to grow victory gardens because of fruit and vegetable limits. Victory gardens, also called war gardens or food gardens for defense, were vegetable, fruit, and herb gardens planted at private residences and public parks in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Germany during World War I and World War II.

3. Why plant victory garden? The government ask people help plant farm for foods troops join WWII Labor and transportation shortages made it hard to harvest and move fruits and vegetables to market. So, the government turned to its citizens and encouraged them to plant "Victory Gardens." They wanted individuals to provide their own fruits and vegetables.
