Painting with Absolutes Noun paired with verb (-ing) or (-ed) Test add “was” or “were” and you will have a complete sentence. Modifies the entire sentence not just a part. They are always set off by a comma or dash because they are non-essential. Examples: – Engine choking- Jaws cracking –Arms outstretched- Heart pounding FORMULA: Noun + Participial/Adj. + Info

Painting with Participles -ing verb tagged on the beginning or end of a sent. Examples: – Hissing, slithering, coiling, the diamond-scaled snakes attacked their prey. (participles) – Hissing their forked, red tongues and coiling their cold bodies, the diamond-scaled snakes attacked their prey. (Part. Phrase) FORMULA: VERB + ING + INFO
