THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM About NYI Designs customized, fully managed infrastructure solutions www.nyi.net / @nyinternetwww.nyi.net@nyinternet Owns / operates Tier 3 data centers in NYC and NJ SSAE16/SOCI/PCI/HIPAA/HITECH compliant: colocation, cloud, managed and DR services Customized solutions enable companies to take control of their infrastructure Unique blend of facility operation and infrastructure mgmt Removes logistical hurdles associated with operating infrastructure Fun fact: Hate the words ‘cloud’ and ‘hybrid’

THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM First: Let’s be real

THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM
6
THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM Public Cloud Large pool of shared resources that can be provisioned as needed using software/API (ex. AWS, Google Compute, Azure, DigitalOcean, etc.) PROS: Initial Deployment, Disaster Recovery, Bursting, R&D, “Cool Kids” CONS: Not Cost Effective for High Processor, Memory, Disk I/O Requirements, Security/Compliance risks, Minimal Support Bottom Line: Easy-to-consume resources have a tendency to create runaway costs for consistently used workloads, creating a “tipping point” where cost outweighs benefit.

9
THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM Private Cloud (IaaS) Large footprint of compute, network and storage with segmented resource allocation. PROS: Predictable pricing and more control over performance - ability to quickly add additional resources as needed - control brings ability to meet security/compliance reqs CONS: “-as a Service” “Cloudy” element still gets expensive and inefficient for applications requiring very high CPU, PROC, Disk Space and I/O Bottom Line: A good way to start controlling the performance and cost, while increasing security.

12
THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM Colocation / Bare Metal Physical footprint within a datacenter where customer deploys actual hardware *GASP*. PROS: Maximum control (price/performance/security) CONS: Longest potential timeline, infrastructure management “headaches”, might be called a “server hugger” by the cool kids Bottom line: Both Public and Private Clouds reside in datacenters, there’s nothing to fear!

THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM What Does Hybrid Mean? Blend of Public Cloud(s), Private Cloud(s), and Colo/Bare Metal Configuration depends on types of applications, performance / IT requirements Good for companies that reach cloud “tipping point” Hybrid clouds enable Enterprises to balance control, agility, security
15
THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM Enterprise IT Buyers Often have compliance requirements to take into account Tight schedules that require quick deployment Many moving parts with limited human “bandwidth” Need to balance budgeting constraints (CAPEX vs. OPEX) No one-size fits all approach, application requirements are all over the map
16
THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM Hybrid Implementation Getting easier than ever to get connected (direct connects, etc.) Companies need real assistance in achieving an effective balance
17
THE GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE CLOUD AND SERVICE PROVIDER ECOSYSTEM What does the future hold? Adoption of Deployment / Implementation Engines like Docker/Kubernetes, etc. Multi-cloud solutions The Datacenter is not going away…
