There are crayons and colored pencils in your child’s desk. 4.Fill out the permission slip for Woodbury Community Park. 5.Write a note to your child. To be left on his/her desk.

6 Homework 2 nd Grade Homework Policy o Begins next week o Math pages, sight words-Fry’s Sight Words App, math facts o Math pages will be listed on our class website each week if the contract is misplaced. o Please do not lose the homework book. Language Arts- Pilot Wonders Series o RTI- 4 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday) o Methods of Instruction: Whole class, small groups o Close reading of text, literary analysis  Spelling will also be from the pilot 2. 10 Math o Go Math to meet CC state standards (place value up to 1,000, measurement, geometry, subtraction and addition with regrouping) o Manipulatives- hands-on experience o Problem Solving-discussing and explaining how a problem is solved Creating videos on iPad to teach concepts

13 Physical Education 3 days a week: Mondays (City Fitness), Tuesdays, and Thursdays Wear tennis shoes (no sandals or open-toed shoes) and appropriate clothes each day to school!

16 Conference Week August 26th through September 2 nd are Goal Setting Conferences. This conference DOES include your child. At this conference we will discuss your child's strengths and areas of focus to help your child have a successful school year. Complete the Goal Setting Conference form by August 20th. This will help prepare us for our time together and make our conference most successful. Complete this form after signing up for a conference time. On Monday, August 29 th, there is no school for students. This is an all day conference day for teachers and parents. form Friday, August 26 th, as well as Tuesday, August 30 th - Friday, September 2 nd, we will be operating on a Minimum Day schedule, with dismissal at 1:17 p.m. Please make sure that your child is picked up on time. 17 Parent Volunteers Please sign-up! Schedule will be sent out soon. We are looking for a Room Parent who can help plan parties/events! Thank you in advance! Mark your calendars: Parent Volunteer Training: Wednesday, July 27 th after school in Room 6. Baby-sitting will be available! 18 How Can I Help My Child Succeed in School? 1. Read TO and WITH your child every night! 2. Help your child with his/her homework every night. 3. Only talk positively about your child’s teachers and school. 4. Make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep and is ready for school each day. For example, have your child set a study area for independent homework time. Encourage them to pack their backpacks the night before. The morning can be so busy and rushed to begin with. 5. Teach your child to be responsible for their actions and their school work. 6. Stay involved and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. 7. Ask your child about school everyday and encourage them to discuss the day.

19 Support our children, by supporting the PTA! o 100% of the funds raised will be used by the PTA to support Woodbury students through programs like art, music, assemblies, lunchtime activities, as well as weekly physical activities led by City Fitness! o The PTA supports the Woodbury staff with various school supplies such as student planners, conduit/daily folders, classroom books, as well as the new computers for the pod! Please feel free to donate ANY amount to the PTA during the Pledge Drive and the Jog-A-Thon.
