2 WORK! WORK! WORK! A tree has many parts. Each part has a job to do.

3 ROOTS Roots draw water and nutrients from the ground to help the tree grow.

4 Outer Bark Outer bark is like your skin. It protects the tree from insects, birds, animals, and weather.

5 Inner Bark The inner bark brings the food that is produced in the leaves to the rest of the tree.

6 Cambium Cambium is made of cells that produce new layers of wood each year. These layers are called rings.

7 Happy Birthday Count my rings and you can tell my age.

8 The Seed Seeds can be found in cones, nuts, or fruits.

9 Seeds fall in the autumn and are covered by leaves during the winter. Then they sprout again in the spring.

10 Leaves Trees make their own food in the leaves.
