Lesson 3 – Becoming Activists This lesson looks at what a consumer campaign is and the various ways students can get involved in the Stop the Traffik chocolate campaign this Easter. Learning Objectives: To know what an activist is. To understand the impact a consumer campaign can have. To develop an action for the students and class to undertake as part of the campaign for ending human trafficking

What is an ACTIVIST? was an ACTIVIST. An ACTIVIST is someone who takes action on an issue and campaigns for change.

What is a CONSUMER CAMPAIGN? undertook a CONSUMER CAMPAIGN. What was William Wilberforce's CONSUMER CAMPAIGN?

What is a CONSUMER CAMPAIGN? The CONSUMER is the person that buys the item. Therefore a CONSUMER CAMPAIGN focuses on the person buying the item and tries to get them to buy items which have been produced without exploitation, for example items.

Get Campaigning! Marketplace Activity: In your groups, READ the instructions at your stall carefully and FOLLOW what they say. LEAVE your finished product at the stall when you move on so other students can see your campaigning materials! Don't move on till your teacher says so!

Visit the Manager of a local supermarket to drop off your petition/posters? Go to local supermarkets and find out how many certified eggs they stock? Campaigning around school to raise awareness? Releasing a press release to local media about what you are up to? What next...?
