2 Our experience In pairs: Compile a list of audiovisual aids. Tick those you have been using in your teaching practice/your teachers used in the course of your schooling. Discuss why you find them useful.

4 How to use realia What advantages does the use of realia have? TASK: In small groups chose realia for a class activity from those available from the teacher. Suggest a use of realia you have chosen. You can add anything you find in the classroom or in your bags.

5 Flashcards and charts Besides teaching vocabulary, flashcards should also be used to teach language structures. Charts display more complex visual information – a sequence telling a story, set of instructions, etc. Mindmap containing vocabulary/information about a particular topic. TASK: Draw a chart for the given text.

6 Black/Whiteboard Discuss: What are the rules for using a black/whiteboard? How do you keep the attention of the class? Have you got any strategies for organizing your board? TASK: In pairs look at the blackboard layout and discuss how the lesson might have developed. Comment on the layout. Discuss how the layout could have been organized more clearly and show it on a blank sheet of paper.

8 Using pictures Discuss in pairs: What are the benefits of using pictures in our classrooms? What do you use pictures for in your lessons? Talk about activities you have found useful in your teaching practice.
